When parents get involved at school, their children’s performance improves
That’s no guarantee, but it’s not guesswork, either. It’s a fact that Yale University psychologist James Comer discovered a generation ago as part of his study of the troubled New Haven, Connecticut public schools.
What Dr. Comer’s study found was that when parents were invited into the school and given a real opportunity to get involved, many of those who did saw their children’s performance improve, sometimes dramatically. Many of the schools that encouraged greater parent involvement saw their overall performance improve as well.
At SICCS, we welcome your interest, your questions, your suggestions and your participation. As Dr. Comer’s research revealed, your involvement as a parent can make a very real difference in your child’s academic success.
