An Enriched Curriculum For Every Child

Staten Island Community Charter School’s education program meets all minimum curriculum requirements established by the New York State Board of Regents and the New York City Department of Education. We then go beyond those minimum requirements, adding curriculum enhancements like these:

Introduction to a second language in kindergarten. Exposure to a second language at a very early age not only lays the foundation for continuing language study; it also exposes children to the culture behind the language.

An enriched Social Studies program that moves out of the classroom and into the community through collaborations with the Staten Island Museum, Historic Richmond Town, and Sandy Ground Historical Society.

An arts-focused imaginative learning program from Lincoln Center Institute that’s tailored to children’s individual learning styles and needs.

A hands-on Natural Sciences curriculum that begins right outside our door, connecting students to our extraordinary island environment. We’ll explore Staten Island’s dramatic topography, study its abundant plant life, and discover its coastal habitats, often hidden but teeming with activity.

Continuous Assessment Of Your Child’s Progress

The best way to help a student catch up is not to let that student fall behind.

That’s why at SICCS, teachers, assistant teachers and educational specialists assess each child’s progress continuously, day after week after month. So when we see a need for individual attention, we can provide it. If there’s a more serious problem, we can arrange for specialized help quickly, and find a solution that helps keep your child on track.
