Charter schools are public schools. Yet charter schools like ours get 30% less state funding than traditional public schools.
That’s why we need your help.
To supplement our traditional community fund-raising activities like bake sales and outings, we’ve gotten donations of union labor and national brand-quality materials; and generous unsolicited contributions from neighbors and civic organizations.
Now we’re asking visitors to the SICCS website to join our roster of contributor/supporters. Every contribution strengthens the educational experience we can provide.
If you support the ideas SICCS stands for . . . if you’d like to help expand the range of public school choices available to Staten Island parents . . . if you believe that successful schools build stronger communities . . . please send in your donation, in whatever amount you can afford, to:

Please help us meet our mandate
As a charter school, SICCS operates under a strict state mandate. We have five years to show that our students can outperform non-charter public elementary schools within our community school district (District 31). And the state expects us to meet that mandate with 30% less funding than traditional schools in the district receive.
Thanks to a fully engaged school leader, a committed staff and parent team, a collaborative school culture and an approach based on continuous assessment, enhanced curriculum and social/emotional learning, we expect not only to survive but to become a model citywide as an independent K-8 public charter school.
We’re also joining with other New York State charter schools to lobby Albany and Washington. And with more and more charter schools joining our ranks, our voices are being heard, locally and nationwide.
We haven’t gotten our tax-exempt status yet. We hope you’ll contribute anyway.
Staten Island Community Charter School has applied for tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code, but our application is still pending.
If you were to deduct your contribution, you could become liable for unpaid taxes. We encourage you to consult your tax advisors and ask their advice.
We deeply appreciate any support you can offer our school.
